Srila Prabhupada Ki Jaya

From Srila Prabhupada’s Sept 9, 1972 letter to Krsna Das:

6

“Know that I am eternally your guide, but if you don’t accept me as your guide, what can I do? If my disciples do not take my guidance, what can I do? By bad association it so happens, so I remain silent. I see the pricks of maya …

“You mention that your pathway has become filled with stumbling blocks. But there are no stumbling blocks. I can kick out all those stumbling blocks immediately, provided that you accept my guidance. With one stroke I can kick out all stumbling blocks.”

BY HEARING FROM A BONA FIDE SPIRITUAL MASTER, ONE ADVANCES IN LIFE

Hare Krsna to all
Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Below is a 4 shot sequence of growing and processing beans-our main grain here.
This summer we had 5 rows, 6 feet high, and around 15 feet long of pole beans, and behind them
were the bush beans in about 6 rows. The slugs got most of the bush beans this year
and not Krsna. But thats gardening and farming-you take what Krsna gives you.

Hare Krsna

This below,  is some of the beans drying in the greenhouse after all the tomatoes/peppers have
been removed . I leave them in here until they turn brown and crispy on their skins which
makes it easier to shell them.
 farm2
Here is  one bucket of various pole beans ready to come inside for shelling. We do
these one bucket at a time so an not to make it seem so cumbersome.

UNDERSTANDING WHY AND HOW THINGS HAPPEN TO US-ACCORDING TO BG AND SB

Below we have compiled many verses, mostly from SB and BG

For Understanding why “good and bad” things happen to us,and more specifically how each of us individually reacts to such events as devotees or Vaisnavas. The ultimate goal of all action, according to our philosophy is to only act for the satisfaction of God, or Krsna, and in that way no personal karma is generated. OK  here we go….

SB 1.17.18  O greatest among human beings, it is very difficult to ascertain the particular miscreant who has caused our sufferings, because we are bewildered by all the different opinions of theoretical philosophers.

PURPORT

There are many theoretical philosophers in the world who put forward their own theories of cause and effect especially about the cause of suffering and its effect on different living beings. Generally there are six great philosophers: Kaṇāda, the author of Vaiśeṣika philosophy; Gautama, the author of logic; Patañjali, the author of mystic yoga; Kapila, the author of Sāṅkhya philosophy; Jaimini, the author of Karma-mīmāṁsā; and Vyāsadeva, the author of Vedānta–darśana.

Although the bull, or the personality of religion, and the cow, the personality of the earth, knew perfectly well that the personality of Kali was the direct cause of their sufferings, still, as devotees of the Lord, they knew well also that without the sanction of the Lord no one could inflict trouble upon them. According to the Padma Purāṇa, our present trouble is due to the fructifying of seedling sins, but even those seedling sins also gradually fade away by execution of pure devotional service. Thus even if the devotees see the mischief-mongers, they do not accuse them for the sufferings inflicted. They take it for granted that the mischief-monger is made to act by some indirect cause, and therefore they tolerate the sufferings, thinking them to be God-given in small doses, for otherwise the sufferings should have been greater.

Srila Prabhupada’s Letter To Sudama Prabhu‏

ImageProxy
My dear Sudama,
Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated October 27, 1972, and I have noted the contents carefully. So far the Road Show and this Yoga Village are concerned, these things should be stopped. Simply perform our kirtana. If we divert our attention in this way, the whole thing will gradually deteriorate. He is going far away. All these things are nonsense inventions. Such inventing spirit will ruin our this movement. People may come to see, some will become devotees, but such devotees will not stay because they are attracted by some show and not by the real thing or spiritual life according to the standard of Lord Caitanya. Our standard is to have kirtana, start temples. What is this “Road Show” and “Yoga Village?” It will be another hippie edition. Gradually the Krishna Consciousness idea will evaporate: another change, another change, every day another change. Stop all this. Simply have kirtana, nothing else. Don’t manufacture ideas.
Hoping this meets you in good health.
Your ever well-wisher,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

Krishna plays flute with the cows

Srila Prabhupada

How sad it is that despite our being taught this, we still want to manipulate the lives of others and exploit over them, (and for some of us), even to the point of [out and out] viciousness…

How, despite the understandings given to us, we still look for profit, adoration and distinction and for some of us will do anything to obtain it, compromising our spiritual life for social recognition, which in regards to eternity, lasts for much less than a truti.

Srila Prabhupada has given us such a precious gift. May we utilize it…

A spiritual master must have seen Krishna– to be guru–SP‏

Must see God to be guru

1.) A spiritual master must have seen Krishna. Without seeing, he cannot be spiritual master. SB lect, LA, Jan 12, 1969
2.)  Recorded on December 7, 1973,On the shores of the Pacific Ocean
Near Los Angeles
Śrīla Prabhupāda is accompanied by Dr. Singh, Dr. W. H. Wolf-Rottkay and another student. (Life comes from life book)

Student. For the last one hundred fifty years, one of the major problems of Western theologians has been the relationship between reason and faith. They have been seeking to understand faith through reason, but they have been unable to find the relationship between the reasoning abilities and faith. Some of them havefaith in God, but their reason tells them there is no God. For instance, they would say that when we offer prasāda to the Lord, it is only faith to think that He accepts it, because we cannot see Him.
Śrīla Prabhupāda.They cannot see Him, but I can see Him. I see God, and therefore I offer prasādato Him. Because they cannot see Him, they must come to me so I can open their eyes. They are blind—suffering from cataracts—so I shall operate, and they will see. That is our program.

3.)SB 2.8.7 Purport  In the process of devotional service, the first step is to take shelter of the spiritual master and then inquire from the spiritual master all about the process. This inquiry is essential for immunity to all kinds of offenses on the path of devotional service. Even if one is fixed in devotional service like Mahārāja Parīkṣit, he must still inquire from the realized spiritual master all about this. In other words, the spiritual master must also be well versed and learned so that he may be able to answer all these inquiries from the devotees. Thus one who is not well versed in the authorized scriptures and not able to answer all such relevant inquiries should not pose as a spiritual master for the matter of material gain. It is illegal to become a spiritual master if one is unable to deliver the disciple.

God will talk to us??? How is that?‏

GauraNitai

Somebody was talking that “Your Deity is just like trying to talk with me.” Prasanna–vaktra. Yes. He is here to talk with you, but He is waitingwhether you‘re interested to talk with Him. That’s all. Kṛṣṇa says that teṣāṁ satata–yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti–pūrvakam, buddhi–yogaṁ dadāmi tam [Bg. 10.10]. He talks, but with whom? Teṣāṁ satata–yuktānām. One who is twenty-four hours engaged with love and faith in the service of the Lord. To whom? Just like if you want to talk with some big man, then you must have qualification. Is it possible that if you want to talk with the big man here, immediately you like? No. You cannot talk. You must be fit to talk with him. Similarly, Kṛṣṇa is ready to talk with you. He has come. He has descended in arcā–mūrti to talk with you, to be visible by you. Now you make yourself ready and fit to talk with Kṛṣṇa. Then He will exchange conversation. Santaḥ sadaiva hṛdayeṣu vilokayanti. This is possible. This is a qualification.  Bombay Dec 4 1974 lecture

A few words of caution from the Sampradaya-acarya, Srila Prabhupada.

A few words of caution from the Sampradaya-acarya, Srila Prabhupada.
:
“Change means rascal….Anything change means it is the domain of
rascals, pandemonium”. (Srila Prabhupada, morning walk, Delhi
14/12/75)

Religion means the word of God. And if yearly or quarterly you change
the words, that is not religion. That is not religion. That is mental
concoction. Therefore we are presenting Bhagavad-gita as it is. No
change. Others, they are interpreting in their own way. That is not
Bhagavad-gita. That is something else. (to devotee:) Keep it there. He
will take. In the words of God there is no question of changing. You
cannot change. As soon as you make a change, immediately it is
material; it has nothing to do with spiritual world. The same example,
the law of government is one, and if you make change, that is not law.
Government says “Keep to the right,” you have to keep to the right.
You cannot make “Keep to the left,” no. That is nowadays
happening-which edition of Christianity? There are so many. Therefore
it is, the purport of Christianity is lost.” (Room Conversation
1976)

Do not make addition, alteration.
Results of making additions and alterations.

“Many times they give me very great credit that I have done wonderful.
Yes, I have done wonderful. But what is the reason? Because I am not a
rascal. I speak what Krsna has spoken. That’s all. Very easy. Everyone
can do that. Not only I. Any of you, you can do this. Simply speak
what is…, what Krsna has said. That’s all. Don’t make addition,
alteration.
Then you become rascal. Immediately you become rascal.
(Srimad-Bhagavatam Lecture 1.5.29 Vrndavana, August 10, 1974)
