Servant we are, because constitutionally I am servant. And
because I am not servant of God or servant of Krsna, that I have
become servant of my dog. In the morning I go with my dog. The dog
says, “Yes, stand up here.” “Yes, I am standing.” “Let me pass my
stool.” “Yes, my dear sir. It is very nice.” So I am servant. But I
have no shame that I have become servant of dog and I’m refuse to (be)
servant of God. Such foolish we are. You see? So Prahlada Maharaja
says, “Just change this kindly. Don’t become any more servant of dog,
Servant of dog means servant of your senses. That’s all. We are here
all servant of senses. That’s all.
Madhya 4.137 One cannot understand Krsna simply by reading Vedic literature. Although
all Vedic literature is meant for understanding Krsna, one cannot
understand Krsna without being a lover of Krsna. Therefore along with
the reading of Vedic literature (svadhyaya), one must engage in
devotional worship of the Deity (arcana-vidhi). Together these will
enhance the devotee’s transcendental understanding of devotional
service. Sravanadi suddha-citte karaye udaya

Devotee (4): The difficulty is that we cannot understand, we cannot
feel what pleases Krsna now, yet we can feel what pleases us, and that
is the difficulty?
Prabhupada: You have no feeling, that everyone knows. Therefore you
have to carry out the order of spiritual master, that’s all.
Devotee (1) : If we try to please Krsna with all of our service and
activities, that automatically brings pleasure to the self?
Prabhupada: You cannot please Krsna directly. You please your
spiritual master, Krsna will be pleased. If you want to please
directly Krsna, that is not possible. That is concoction You cannot
please. Yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasadah. You have to please your
spiritual master, then Krsna will be pleased. Don’t jump.

It is not that we are all
liberated persons. We have got so many attachments to family, wife,
country. But along with it, if we try to increase our attachment for
Krsna, automatically there will be detachment. Automatically. Without
endeavoring separately. Vasudeve bhagavati bhakti-yogah prayojitah.
Vasudeva, Krsna. If we become engaged in bhakti-yoga… Bhakti-yoga
means..Here is Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu who is Krsna Himself. He has
come to teach us vairagya-vidya. It is little difficult. It is very
difficult for ordinary persons to understand this vairagya-vidya.
Their business is how to increase attachment for this body, and Krsna
consciousness movement is how to increase detachment for this material
life. Therefore it is called vairagya-vidya. Vairagya-vidya can be
very easily achieved, just like it is recommended, vasudeve bhagavati
bhakti-yogah prayojitah janayati asu vairagyam, very soon, very soon.
SB 4.9.11 P Dhruva Maharaja Returns Home
The significant point in Dhruva Maharaja’s statement is that he
wanted the association of pure devotees. Transcendental devotional
service cannot be complete and cannot be relishable without the
association of devotees. Anyone who is trying
to be aloof from this Krishna Consciousness Society and yet engage in
Krsna consciousness is living in a great hallucination, for this is
not possible. From this statement by Dhruva Maharaja it is clear that
unless one is associated with devotees, his devotional service does
not mature; it does not become distinct from material activities.

So this “duty, no duty,” this is our creation. We are under fully control of the nature. But we have
created our mental concoction: “This is duty. This is good. This is
bad.” That is our mano-dharma. Real dharma is sarva-dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja. This is real dharma. And everything is
mano-dharma, mental creation. Therefore the Bhagavata in the beginning
it is said that dharmah projjhita-kaitavo ‘tra: “This false dharma is
rejected.” These are all false dharmas. Real dharma is to surrender to
Krsna. But it takes time. Therefore sat-sanga is required. But
actually real dharma is to become Krsna conscious and do everything…
Anukulyena krsnanusilanam. What Krsna wants, we must know it and do
it. And this is real dharma.
SB 8.22.11 Bali Maharaja Surrenders His Life
Only by providence have I been forcibly brought under Your lotus
feet and deprived of all my opulence. Because of the illusion created
by temporary opulence, people in general, who live under material
conditions, facing accidental death at every moment, do not understand
that this life is temporary. Only by providence have I been saved from
that condition.
PURPORT
Actually, everyone should fear the so-called society, friendship
and love for which he works so hard all day and night. As indicated by
Bali Maharaja by the words janad bhitah, every devotee in Krsna
consciousness should always be afraid of the common man engaged in
pursuing material prosperity. Such a person is described as pramatta,
a madman chasing the will-o’-the-wisp. Such men do not know that after
a hard struggle for life one must change his body, with no certainty
of what kind of body he will receive next. Those who are completely
established in Krsna conscious philosophy and who therefore understand
the aim of life will never take to the activities of the materialistic
dog race. But if a sincere devotee somehow does fall down, the Lord
corrects him and saves him from gliding down to the darkest region of
hellish life.
SB 10.10.18 P Deliverance of the Yamala-arjuna Trees
If we give up the association of sadhus, saintly persons engaged in
Krsna consciousness, and associate with persons seeking sense
gratification and accumulating wealth for this purpose, our life is
spoiled. The word asat refers to an avaisnava, one who is not a
devotee of Krsna, and sat refers to a Vaisnava, Krsna’s devotee. One
should always seek the association of Vaisnavas and not spoil one’s
life by mixing with avaisnavas. In ▼Bhagavad-gita (7.15), the
distinction between Vaisnava and avaisnava is enunciated:
Anyone who is not surrendered to Krsna is a most sinful person
(duskrti), a rascal (mudha), and the lowest of men (naradhama).
Therefore one should not avoid the association of Vaisnavas, which is
now available all over the world in the form of the Krsna
consciousness movement.
