“We never compromise”—SP‏

**newrule

SP-025 “We never compromise. All my students, they will never  compromise. Why shall I compromise? If I am confident that I am speaking the  truth, why shall I make compromise? Those who are not confident of his  position, they will make compromise. One who does not know where he  stands, he will make compromise. And if I know where I am standing, why shall I  make compromise? Let others do whatever he likes. This is our  position.”

Great article on “no change” to the books‏

**newrule

By Ajit Krishna Dasa

This a a response to Dravida Prabhu’s article “The Book Changes – A Defense” (posted on the  Sampradaya Sun (01.13.2014).

Basically Dravida Prabhu’s attempted defense boils down to two wellknown  fallacious arguments often presented by the BBT International:

1. Prabhupada trusted Jayadvaita Swami pre Nov  14th 1978. Therefore the editing Jayadvaita Swami has done after Prabhupada’s  disappearance (post Nov. 14th 1978) is also approved.

2. The books are made “closer to Prabhupada” by  making them closer to the so called original manuscript (which is really only a  draft).

Let us look at each of these fallacious arguments.

The “he is good”  argument

I have posted an article on my blog defeating this fallacious  argument so often presented by the BBT International:

Is Jayadvaita Still Good?

BBT International and their supporters often  attempt to justify the changes made to Prabhupada books by Jayadvaita Swami by  pointing out that Prabhupada a couple if times spoke highly of his editing  work.

This article will show that these statements by  Prabhupada can’t be construed to mean that Jayadvaita Swami’s editing work after  Prabhupada’s disappearance is pleasing to Prabhupada.

From BBT International’s website:

“Of course, regarding Jayadvaita Swami, the BBT’s  chief editor, Srila Prabhupada wrote, “Concerning the editing of Jayadvaita  Prabhu, whatever he does is approved by me. I have confidence in him.” (letter  to Radhavallabha, 7 September 1976) Continue reading →

Meeting vs. separation and hearing from a realized soul–SP‏

**newrule

Hare Krsna to all
Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada
The mood of hope against all hope, could also be called the mood of  separation. What hope
do I have of ever seeing Krsna? We saw Srila Prabhupada for a very  brief time and those moments
in time should be sufficient to whet our appetites for “more”.
68-01-13.Jad                Letter:  Jadurani                   Yes, the ecstasy of separation of Spiritual Master is even  greater ecstasy than meeting with Him.
Whenever Prabhupada would come to some city, the devotees would run  there in
ecstasy and madness sometimes, almost like what we read in Krsna book  when the
gopis of Vrndavana or the queens of Dvarka would come to meet with  Krsna.
So we , who were there, all remember these feelings very acutely, and to  hear Srila Prabhupada
say that the feelings of separation are even greater than feelings  of meeting, is not
comprehensible to this limited mind I presently possess.
The devotees were literally mad, some of them, in meeting with Srila  Prabhupada,  So all we can do, at present,  is just “imagine” what is  in store for us when we finally arrive at the stage of “separation” !! And it is  just this mood that one is supposed to cultivate, following in the  footsteps of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. .
And finally this mood of separation can be made possible only by  hearing from the mouth of a realized soul.
This is the Paramahamsa path recommended by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Here  below, is the evidence…
Hare Krsna
Damaghosa das
————————–
Antya 14.37 …  Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu showed  by practical example how one can cultivate the mood of Radharani and  the other gopis in separation from Krsna. Devotees absorbed in this  mood do not like to see Krsna anywhere else but Vrndavana. Therefore  Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu lamented, “I found Krsna in Vrndavana, and now  I have again lost Him and come to Kuruksetra.” Unless one is a  very highly advanced devotee, he cannot understand these  intricate feelings. The author of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta,  however, has tried to explain this divyonmada as far as possible, and it is  our duty simply to appreciate it as far as possible.  Therefore the author has made the following request in verse 11: Continue reading →

Srila Prabhupada himself calls Jayadvaita and Dravida–DEMONS‏

If you dont want to be shocked-then don’t read any further….
I would suspect there are literally  hundreds of thousands of devotees  all over this planet that consider
the brutish mentality of changing even one word of Srila Prabhupadas  book a gross offense, or hati mata, the mad elephant offense.
What to speak of the wholesale change to thousands of passages in the  Bhagavad gita , Srimad Bhagavatam and Caitanya Caritamrta.
Now dear readers please hear what the author himself of  these same books says about anybody who dares to touch his translations and  purports.

A Transcendental question ??

**newrule

Adi 5.52        The Glories of Lord  Nityananda Balarama       Surrounding  Vaikuntha is a mass of water that is endless, unfathomed and  unlimited.
TLC 7                 Unlimited Forms of Godhead              The spiritual world of the Vaikuntha planets and Krsnaloka, the supreme  planet, is situated in His energy of thinking. Although there is no  creation in the spiritual world, which is eternal, it is still to be  understood that the Vaikuntha planets depend on the thinking energy of the  Supreme Lord. This thinking energy is described in ▼Brahma-samhita (5.2), where it is said that the supreme abode, known as Goloka, is manifested  like a lotus flower with hundreds of petals. Everything there is  manifested by Ananta, the Balarama or Sankarsana form. The material cosmic  manifestation and its different universes are manifest through maya, or  material energy.
Here is my question:
Why is the spiritual sky, with all it planets, all  surrounded by water, unlimited amounts of water??
Because it resembles a lotus flower whorl, that “needs” water  to support it?
Who knows the answer to this question? Is it possible to  know?

The story of the Prostitute Laksahira—-SP‏

All glories to Srila Prabhupada
(with that subject title I know the attention was  captured)…
Below is the end of a lecture by Srila Prabhupada where he nicely explains  how 99.9% of the world operates.
Namely, everybody (maybe even some of us) is trying for happiness thru  this material body, but what we get is already fixed by karma or destiny-either  the happiness or the distress. And whatever happiness and distress is experienced  in each body, is always the same thing. This is also called chewing that which  has already been chewed. Sense enjoyment, materialism, and so called society,  friendship, and “love”. Same old same old…

751204SB.VRN                    Lectures                   231214/530501    There is a story of a prostitute,  Laksahira. (aside:) You can sleep this way. I am asking you. Yes, you’re  sleeping. You can go and sleep. Don’t make here. So there is a story of the  prostitute, Laksahira. There was a prostitute whose charges was one lakh of  pieces of diamond. It doesn’t matter, a big diamond or small diamond. That  was her charges. So one man was suffering from leprosy and he was  being assisted, (sic:) she was being assisted by his wife, very  faithful wife. So still, he was morose. The wife asked the husband, “Why  you are morose? I am giving you so much service. You are leper, you  cannot move. I can take you… I take you on a basket and carry you.  Still, you feel unhappy?” So he admitted, “Yes.” “Oh, what is the  cause?” “Now, I want to go to the prostitute, Laksahira.” Just see. He  is leper, a poor man, and he is aspiring to go to a prostitute who charges  100,000 of pieces of diamond. So anyway, she was a faithful wife. She wanted  to satisfy her husband. Some way or other, she arranged. Studying Bhagavad-gita As It Is according to the logic of the hen

Studying Bhagavad-gita As It Is according to the logic of the hen

by Ajit Krishna Dasa

CUT CUT
“Ardha-kukkuti-nyaya. All rascals, they accept this Bhagavad-gita on the principle of ardha-kukkuti-nyaya. In the nyaya, in the logic. There is a logic, ardha-kukkuti-nyaya. What is that ardha-kukkuti-nyaya?
Kukkuti means the hen. So hen gives one egg every day. So the man, proprietor of the hen, he is considering that “This hen is very good, giving every day one egg. But the, its mouth is expensive. It eats. So let me cut the mouth, simply take the egg.”
So there are rascals, they study Bhagavad-gita on this principle of ardha-kukkuti-nyaya. “Cut this, take this, cut this, take this.” So if you cut the head, there will be no more egg. The rascal does not know. If you cut the head there will be no more production of egg.
So similarly, if you try to study Bhagavad-gita according to your whims, cut this and take this, that is not study of Bhagavad-gita.
That is something else. That is something else. That is something else.”
(Bhagavad-gita 1.28-29 – London, July 22, 1973)

Why do some come, stay, and then go away?–SP

**newrule

Hare Krsna to all
Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Below is a very short conversation with Srila Prabhupada where he explains  why some people come to
Krsna Consciousness, stay for a while, then fade away.
He also once said, don’t be surprised by who comes to Krsna, be surprised  by who stays.!
This means both to come to Krsna and to stay with Krsna requires good fortune. That good fortune is obtained and kept by pleasing the bona  fide spiritual master.

750510mw.per                 Conversations
Amogha: Srila Prabhupada? Why is it that some people, when they  hear about Krsna consciousness, they take it, and some do not. And  still, after that, some of those who take it, they stay, and some who take  it take it for some time and then they fail?
Prabhupada: That is fortunate and unfortunate. Just  like one inherits father’s property. Many millions of dollars, and he has  become a poor man by his misusing the money. Like that. He is  unfortunate. He got the money, but he could not utilize  it.
Jayadharma: Does fortune mean it’s the mercy of Krsna?
Prabhupada: Krsna’s mercy is always there. It is your misuse of  free will. You are given the opportunity–that is fortune. But you  do not accept the fortune. That is your misfortune. That is stated in  the Caitanya-caritamrita. Lord Caitanya said, ei rupe brahmanda  bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva. Kono–some fortunate man can accept it.  Because mostly they are unfortunate. Just see, throughout the whole  of Europe and America we are making propaganda. How many  students have come? A very insignificant number, although they have come.  They are fortunate.
Amogha: Sometimes we see that a devotee may be very sincere, but at the  same time he becomes weak somehow, and he falls down.

These Deities are “Living”–-Two interesting stories……

**newrule

Hare Krsna to all
Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Yesterday at Sila Puri, otherwise known as Kanhaiya dasanudas’s home       ashram, we had our usual Saturday Kirtan program. Only one thing was       noticeably different–The Deities, Gaura and Nitai were       literally dancing on Their altar !! While this was going on,and       feeling very blissful, I felt like I was somewhere “else”, but       definitely not in the material world.

Kanhaiya das has, and I have never counted them all,        probably around 50-60 Deities of Krsna or His incarnations on his altar,       which include about 50 Salagrama and Govardhana Silas.

But this time, during the arotik kirtan, which we were leading,       Gauranga and Nityananda Avadhuta Prabhu were really rocking back       and forth on Their marble altar. None of the other Deities were moving (at       least from what we could see), only Gaura and Nitai, who are situated       almost exactly in the middle of his altar setup. I thought They were       going to fall off the altar, They were moving back and forth so  much.

Both Kanhaiya and myself saw this unusual event at the same time, but       nobody else, who was there, saw it. We both asked the devotees–Did you       see that? Did you see Them dancing? It went on for about a minute.

So I was thinking about this later, on the way home, and mentioned to       the other devotees in our car, that only the two devotees (myself and       Kanhaiya) who do regular, daily, Deity puja, saw this event. We were       definitely blessed by Lord Gauranga and Nityananda prabhu to see this       happen. All the others who were also present  during the kirtan, did       not see it.  And this pastime reminds me of a story in Caityana       Bhagavat which we will tell now.

The Value of Real Knowledge

The Value of Real Knowledge

By Narasimha das

My next door neighbor came over the other day and gave me his latest National Geographic magazine. Just the day before, I had seen it on a magazine stand and resisted the urge to buy it. Normally I have no interest in this atheist rag, but this issue was about the May 31st F5 monster tornado in Oklahoma this year (2013) and the death of Discovery Channel’s famous “storm chaser,” Tim Samaras, and his crew, which included his son Paul Samaras. I was born and raised in “Tornado Alley” and as a boy was fascinated to see tornadoes at a distance.

Tim Samaras had a cult following of storm chasers and was working for National Geographic on a grant for studying tornadoes and lightning. While he and his crew were gathering data on tornadoes with equipment invented by Samaras, they got sucked into a vortex with 300 mph winds. Their car was found the next day in a crumpled ball. It had been dropped like a ball of trash half a mile away. Witnesses saw it falling out of the sky.

The story mentioned other cases illustrating the power of large tornadoes. It is often noted that these storms seem to have a mind of their own and are unpredictable. I learned that India has tornadoes but they are rare everywhere in the world except Tornado Alley, or the US Midwest and Texas. This issue of NG glorified Samaras as a great researcher, explorer, investigator and inventor who devoted his life, at great risk, to unlocking the mystery of these great storms. Yet scientists are still perplexed how they form and how they operate. As usual, this magazine–its writers and editors– glamorize the search for mundane knowledge and completely rule out any idea of God, the soul, metaphysics, or the spiritual dimension of reality.  As such, they are always bewildered and perplexed about the gross and subtle workings of Nature. As described in the Mahabharata, the great emperor and mahajana Yudhisthira Maharaja was asked by Lord Yamaraja, “What man should be regarded as learned? Who is an atheist? And who is ignorant?” Maharaja Yudhisthira succinctly replied, “A learned man is one who knows the science of the self. An atheist is he who is ignorant; and he is ignorant who is an atheist.”

Tim Samaras prided himself on being a scientist first and foremost, yet he had a superstition. He would “religiously” carry a McDonalds cheeseburger on the dash of his car whenever he was out chasing storms. He thought this would bring him good luck. At his funeral, the pastor kept a cheeseburger on the podium as a tribute to Samaras and his strange belief.

The story detailed reports illustrating the power of these storms, many of which seem to love destroying trailer parks and RV parks—easy kills. But they can also lift large barns and homes off their foundations and shread them like cardboard. A county coroner in Oklahoma described how these storms can act like giant meat grinders. Corpses are sometimes so destroyed that they are unrecognizable as former human beings. This issue of NG reported an incident that happened just moments before the demise of Samaras and his crew: A 32-foot trailer with 7 cows inside was picked up and deposited nearly half a mile away. Although trailer was destroyed, none of the cows inside were injured. The atheists reporting this story were totally perplexed how this could be possible. Apparently, the demon inhabiting the body of this tornado had better morals than Samaras, who was addicted to hamburgers.

When He was still a baby, the powerful demon Trinavarta, who took the form of great tornado, picked up baby Krishna and carried Him high into the sky. Krishna at first let the demon carry Him, but then Krishna made His body extremely heavy and grabbed the demon around the neck, causing him to fall violently to the ground. The demon was instantly killed and, of course, Lord Krishna was unhurt. Continue reading →
