Prabhupāda: Simply fighting. They are not peaceful. That’s all. Where is peace? You’ll be surprised. During gas scarcity the gas was being supplied in Honolulu. This was in our presence. So the gas supply, whatever they had, distributed, and they had one sign board, “No more gas.” So next man was so angry that he shot him dead. Just see. He had no more gas; he cannot supply. He became so much infuriated that he shot him dead. This is the result of this modern motorcar civilization. He thought that “Gas will not be supplied. Then I am gone. I am finished. So kill this man.” This is education. (Hindi) Provided we train at least some ideal men, everything can be done. Everything is there. There is no scarcity of knowledge in India. We have to simply take it and practically apply it, bas. (Hindi) We are not sentimental (laughs) religious group. Everything practical. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not like that, sentiment. Everything scientific, practical, for the good of the whole human society. Therefore I require that this must be pushed on for the whole human society, and naturally India also.
BG 16.21—There are three gates leading to this hell-lust, anger, and greed. Every sane man should give these up, for they lead to the degradation of the soul.
PURPORT-The beginning of demoniac life is described herein. One tries to satisfy his lust, and when he cannot, anger and greed arise. A sane man who does not want to glide down to the species of demoniac life must try to give up these three enemies which can kill the self to such an extent that there will be no possibility of liberation from this material entanglement.
Some Conclusions-we are seeing more school killings these days as well as more shooting sprees by deranged people. In one of our own small local towns some gunman went into a dept store and shot up a number of innocent people, looking for his former girlfriend. People are losing self control and mental stability. How many times have we heard that the gunman seemed just “normal” to all his surprised friends? They were all very surprised that he could do such things?
These things , senseless murders, are becoming more prominent and will only increase as Kali yuga increases his grip on the populations of the world. Even Srila Prabhupada had to personally witness such a senseless murder at some gas station in Hawaii, the place people go for their “enjoyment”. Krsna also tells us that from the highest planet down to the lowest in this universe, there is nothing but misery and suffering but we are so foolish we cannot see what is right before our own eyes.In one place Srila Prabhupada said mode of goodness means you see that this place is a place of suffering and that you are not making plans for some situation of so called “happiness”. Only the devotees can understand this, not the materialists, for right after some tragedy happens these same people go right back to their material lives. THe only time they become sober is during a funeral. There is one line in a song by Bhaktivindoe Thakur where Lord Caitanya says-“In this world you have no friend but Myself” . In other words, we may have a nice family, girlfriend, boyfriend, pet dog, but what can they do to save us at the time of death?
