Going to Krsna Means no more material desires.

So therefore Gaura-kiśora dāsa Bābājī, he remained niṣkiñcana. And his disciple, Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī, he also remained niṣkiñcana although he possessed so many temples, because nothing was for his personal…, but for Kṛṣṇa.
So one may question that “Your Guru Mahārāja was sitting on the ground in a municipal lavatory…” Because he did not like that “Anybody should disturb me,” he was sitting by the side of municipal lavatory. Because so many people will come for darśana and āśīrvāda, he did not like it. He did not like to be disturbed by these āśīrvāda. You see? They will not take any spiritual instruction. They are thinking that “Here is a saintly person, and he’ll bless me. So I have got now one thousand. I’ll take ten thousand.” That’s all. Therefore, they come. They do not come to take any spiritual instruction. Therefore, it is botheration. It is botheration. So Gaura-kiśora dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja did not like this botheration. He was sitting by the side of a municipal lavatory so that “These rascals will not come out of the bad smell and will not disturb me.” You see? So Mahārāja Mahīndrānandī, he was one of the… He had organized one saṅkīrtana festival. So he came to Gaura-kiśora dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja and to invite him. So after many requests, Gaura-kiśora dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja said, “Mahārāja, you have got many tenants. You are Mahārāja. Why you are trying to make me your tenant? Because you are rich man, you also want… As your tenants carries your order, so you also want me. So why you are…?” “No, sir, no. You are my lord. Whatever you say, I shall carry out.” “Will you carry out?” “Why not?” So, he said that “Don’t go home. Sit down here. Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa.” He fled away. (laughter) You see. So he was very humorous also, Gaura-kiśora dāsaBābājī, that “If you are so obedient, then I ask you, ‘Don’t go home. Better give up your dress and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa here.’ “
…So, he was akiñcana. So similarly, … Just like Rāmānanda Rāya. He was gṛhastha, very opulent, governor. He is also akiñcanabecause nothing was possessed by personal; everything for Jagannātha. This is distinction. On one side, Rūpa Gosvāmī, and one side, Rāmānanda Rāya. And Rāmānanda Rāya is the most confidential devotee of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, although he’s a gṛhastha, because he is akiñcana, as akiñcana as Rūpa Gosvāmī. So we have to become akiñcana. Akiñcana. Then we shall realize Kṛṣṇa. Therefore, it is said, akiñcana-gocaram: “You are understandable only by a person who does not possess so-called material opulence.” So we should always remember that whatever we are trying for material…, it is all for Kṛṣṇa, nothing for us. So that people may… Big, gorgeous temple means people will be attracted to come here, and we’ll distribute Kṛṣṇa’s prasādam. The aim is some way or other to turn them to convert them into Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Then you remain akiñcana. And if we think that “We have got now very big house. We shall live comfortably and sleep comfortably,” then na gocaram, then Kṛṣṇa will not be realized. Then that comfort will be realized only, not Kṛṣṇa. Akiñcana-gocaram. We should always remember this.
This is… Kuntī devī is saying, tvām akiñcana-gocaram [SB 1.8.26]. And Caitanya Mahāprabhu said also, niṣkiñcanasya bhagavad-bhajanonmukhasya. Bhagavad-bhajana, devotional service to Kṛṣṇa, if one is interested, he should not desire anything material possession. Material… Anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyam [Brs. 1.1.11]. Niṣkiñcanasya bhagavad-bhajano… And Bhagavad-bhajana, why required? Now, pāraṁ paraṁ jigamiṣor bhava-sāgarasya. We are rotting in this material world. We have to cross over the nescience ocean, and go to Vaikuṇṭha. That is bhagavad-bhajana. Bhagavad-bhajana does not mean to increase our material possessions. That is dharmārtha-kāma-mokṣa [SB 4.8.41]. These are material things. People become religious to increase their economic condition better, dharma artha, generally. They want to… Just like there are so many so-called saintly persons. They advertise that “If you give me one, I shall give you ten.” Magic, gold manufacturing, or some cloth and they get more… People are after them. But akiñcana. We have nothing to give. So they do not come to us.
So Kṛṣṇa is akiñcana-gocaram. We should always remember that, that if we desire to be materially happy, and if we think, “Some material possession and prestige in the society and becoming a learned scholar… I shall be getting more and more adoration from the society. I’ll be a big man,” then Kṛṣṇa will be finished. Kṛṣṇa will be finished. Kṛṣṇa is akiñcana-gocara. That is the instruction of this verse. Naivārhaty abhidhātum. These persons, janmaiśvarya-śruta-śrībhir edhamāna [SB 1.8.26], increasing material opulence, they does not, they do not deserve approaching Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa will be approached by Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura when he says, tomābine ke āche āmāra: “I have no other alternative than to take shelter at the lotus feet of Your Lordship. Please give me…” We should always remember this. Then we shall be able to make progress in spiritual life.
Thank you very much. (end)

Prabhupada: Therefore we are offering this place. Come here. Why do you not come here and live with us? Then this is… The Krsna consciousness movement is… This is the movement, that you come here, live with us, and produce your food, produce your milk, be happy, healthy, and chant Hare Krsna. This is our movement. Therefore we are creating New Vrindaban and farm, and we are trying to purchase… This is our movement, that we give you sufficient food, shelter, health, philosophy, religion, character, everything, purity. Come here. Why don’t you come? They come here on the weekdays, and then fly away, go away. You see? We are giving such nice room, but they will not live here. They will go to the hubble-bubble of the city. They like to come here. Therefore they spend so much money for gas and … here. They will go to the hubble-bubble of the city. But because they are not accustomed, they go back again. Return ticket. From hell to heaven, and again hell (laughter) Return ticket–coming back to hell again, not going back to God.

Prabhupada:…There are so many land. Come here and grow food. Grow fruit. That is… That is the desire of Krsna. Annad bhavanti bhutani. Produce food and eat in sufficiently, be strong, and chant Hare Krsna. That is our philosophy. Why you are producing bolts and nuts, tire and tubes? Eat. Rascal. They do not know that first of all you must eat. No, everyone is engaged in industry. Why? Krsna does not say that “Take to industry.” Krsna says, “Produce foodstuff.” Annad bhavanti bhutani. If you produce foodstuff, then both your animals, yourself, will be happy, becoming strong. Why do they manufacture other things?
Some Conclusions— In the above three passages, we see Srila Prabhupada describing the person who is akincana-gocara-which means having no material desires. This platform is required before we go back to Godhead, and it will take some time to develop. That consciousness can be made more easy to attain if one lives a rather simple lifestyle by growing their own food-out in the countryside, not in the crazy cities of this world. I put these two separate conversations together because in the first one we see that some King was inviting Gaura Kishora das babaji to come to his festival which would mean Gaura Kishora would become obligated to some mundane King, which he was not about to do. And then he asked that king to stay with him there and just chant Hare Krsna Maha mantra, and the King flatly refused and promptly went back to his opulent palace, much the same way that Prabhupada mentions that pious folks come from the cities to visit our rural farm/ temples, get some inspiration, and prasadam and then just go right back to what it was they were doing previously in their conjested city life. Therefore the second phase of the Krsna Consciusness Movement MUST be enacted so that people can learn how to live as devotees following the Lords desires for mankind-in other words-simple living with high thinking. This is nearly impossible living in the modern day cities because ones mind is always disturbed, and a disturbed mind finds it very difficult to constantly think of Lord Krsna.

Devotee (1): Śrīla Prabhupāda, we received news yesterday that one man in northern New South Wales is willing to sell us a farm, a great big farm out there in the southern tropics. Would this be a good place for engaging boys like the Indian, the Indian boy that came yesterday?
Prabhupāda: Yes. Our next program is to organize farming. Let anyone come. We shall give him free food and employment: “Come on.” Not that “I want to work as a clerk in the city.” You produce your own food. I give you ingredients. I give you land. And work for five, six hours, and take your food and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa.

Now, our next program will be to organize farming land to set an example to the whole world how people can be peaceful, happy, and free from all anxieties simply by chanting Hare Krishna Maha-mantra and living an honorable life in Krishna Consciousness. In India especially people are religiously inclined. They like to live in village and also like to love Lord Rama, Lord Krishna. This idealism is running through their blood and veins. We have to organize their natural tendency and elevate them again back to Home, Back-to-Godhead. Please think over these points very seriously and as soon as I return we shall take up the program. My beloved sannyasi disciple Swami Pusta Krishna has promised to give me a car, and as soon as I get it I shall move from village to village along with some selected assistants and organize this farming village development program.
