Hare Krsna to all
Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada
Yesterday, we celebrated (in a modified way) the wedding of Lord Krsna with His eternal consort, Srimati
Tulsi Devi. Although in Hindu society these things can go on for a week or more, sometimes boring, even the bride and groom, we pulled it off in a few short hours.(American style).
The story about Tulsi devi, along with Sudama the cowherd friend of Krsnas, and how they came to this material world due to the curse of Radhika, , both who received this same curse, is a wonderful one and one that is certainly worth reading. It shows how the spiritual world is anything but dull as there are no people hanging around there just playing harps,in white robes, like some “religious” commentators like to speculate. This pastime or lila of the Lord and His associates shows us how intricate and complex is the Internal Pleasure giving Energy of Lord Krsna and how His associates are not in any way ordinary “devotees”.
Google the “story of Tulsi” and see what you find.
We began the program with Gaur Nitai arotik, Anubhavananda prabhu led a fine kirtan which sounded almost like a tape recording of Vishnujana Swami, and then we read a bit from the Salagram Sila book by Padmanabha Gowsami of Radha Raman temple Vrndavana about how Tulsi and Sudama (Sankacuda) came to this world due to the curse of Radha.
Next we began the wedding with two different bhaktas reading some of the glories of both Vishnu as Salagram sila and Tulsi Devi. Then we began the actual ritual of wedding Them both.
And last but not least, another wonderful feast ensued for the pleasure of Hari and His bride Tulsi Devi and all their local devotees present.
