Srila Prabhupada’s warning concerning imitative spiritual masters

**newrule

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (6.3.20) states that there are twelve mahājanas: Brahmā, Nārada, Śambhu, Kumāra, Kapila, Manu, Prahlāda, Janaka, Bhīṣma, Bali, Śukadeva and Yamarāja.
To select our mahājanas in the Gauḍīya–sampradāya, we have to follow in the footsteps of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and His representatives. His next representative is Śrī Svarūpa Dāmodara Gosvāmī, and the next are the six Gosvāmīs-Śrī Rūpa, Śrī Sanātana, Bhaṭṭa Raghunātha, Śrī Jīva, Gopāla Bhaṭṭa and Dāsa Raghunātha. The follower of Viṣṇusvāmī was Śrīdhara Svāmī, the most well known commentator on Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. He was also a mahājana. Similarly, Caṇḍīdāsa, Vidyāpati and Jayadeva were all mahājanas. One who tries to imitate the mahājanas just to become an imitative spiritual master is certainly far away from following in the footsteps of the mahājanas. Sometimes people cannot actually understand how a mahājana follows other mahājanas. In this way people are inclined to fall from devotional serviceBooks : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta – 1975 Edition : Cc. Pop quiz–When is the ONLY time Maya is connected with Visnu or Krsna??

Article by Damagosha Dasa

**newrule

Adi 5.51 purport
It is the function of Maha Sankarsana in the form of Kāraṇodakaśāyī Visnu to glance over the material creation, which is situated beyond the limits of the Causal Ocean. Material nature is connected with the Personality of Godhead by His glance over her and nothing more. It is said that she is impregnated by the energy of His glance. The material energy, maya never even touches the Causal Ocean, for the Lord’s glance focuses upon her from a great distance away.

Madhya 20. 309
Of the three deities supervising the creation, maintenance and dissolution of the universe, Lord Viṣṇu is never separate from the original Viṣṇu. However, Lord Śiva and Brahmā, due to their association with māyā, are different from Viṣṇu. Viṣṇu cannot be transformed into any form of material energy. Whenever there is association with māyā, the personality involved must be different from Lord Viṣṇu. Therefore Lord Śiva and Lord Brahmā are called guṇa-avatāras, for they associate with the material qualities. The conclusion is that Rudra is a transformation of Viṣṇu, but he is not exactly Lord Viṣṇu. Therefore, he does not come within the category of the viṣṇu-tattvas

Hare Krsna

Note–Below are two lectures tidbits. The first one Srila Prabhupada explains the difference between bhoga-tyaga-or accepting enjoyment or renunciation for the service of the Lord and gives some nice examples

NOD Vrndavana Oct 19 1972

So sometimes… Just like there is example. We asked this question,bhoga-tyāga, to our Guru Mahārāja. So… What is the difference…? Just like Rūpa Gosvāmī, he left everything for Caitanya Mahāprabhu’sservice. His lucrative service, minister post and everything, he re…Tyāga. And Rāmānanda Rāya, he was governor. He was governor andgṛhastha, and living very luxuriantly. He’s bhoga, he’s bhoga platform. Now both of them were devotees of Lord Caitanya. So what is the difference? This question was put. So our Guru Mahārāja replied: Just like a woman. According to our Vedic system, when the husband is out of home, the women is not supposed to dress herself very nicely. Proṣita bhartṛkā. It is called proṣita bhartṛkā. The system was that one should dress herself in such a way that people can understand what is her position—whether she’s unmarried, whether she’s married, whether she’s widow, whether her husband is away, whether she’s a pro…, she’s a prostitute, everything. By the dress one should understand. “She is, she is widow,” “She has got her husband,” “Her husband is now away from home.” “Oh, she is a prostitute,” “She’s not married.” In this way. Because she’s not to be asked. Simply by the dress one can understand. So the proṣita bhartṛkā. She does not dress herself, she lies down on the floor, does not change her clothes very nicely, does not dress the, comb the hair, proṣita bhartṛkā. And the same woman, when her husband is at home, she take twice bath and dresses herself, applies oil and very nice dress, ornaments, and so many things. Women know how to decorate themselves. But the… There is no difference. Her not dressing herself nicely and dressing herself nicely, it may be considered that bhoga and tyāga. But either of these positions is for center is husband. Center is husband. Therefore bhoga-tyāga is not consideration. If for Kṛṣṇa I have to give up everything, I will give up. And if Kṛṣṇa, I’ll have to accept everything, I will accept. This is required. Not the position of bhoga-tyāga, but service. If by giving up everything I can serve Kṛṣṇa well, I shall give it up, everything. And if by accepting everything I shall serve Kṛṣṇa very nicely, then I accept everything. That is required.Ānukūlyena.

As devotees, its no problem eating-its more a question of which preparation should we make for Krsna today!

**newrule

Hare Krsna-
Below are two conversations. The first, Srila Prabhupada explains the basic
principle of material life-sense gratification. Everyone has 4 bodily necessities- to eat, sleep,  sex and defend. He explains how that pleasure is the same in all species of life. And as Human beings we need not concern ourselves with these basic bodily needs as Krsna will take care of them all very nicely. The more we work does not mean that much more we will enjoy. No-that amount is already fixed, so better to spend our time with understanding who we are, who is Krsna and how to serve Him.

Monitor does not give Diksha

Monitor does NOT give Diksa BUT Ritvik Representative can give 1st and 2nd Initiations ON BEHALF of Srila Prabhupada, the Acarya
Monitor does NOT give Diksa Compiled by: Mahesh Raja, UK
Monitor does NOT give Diksa BUT  Ritvik Representative can give 1st and 2nd Initiations ON BEHALF of Srila Prabhupada, the Acarya as per July 9th 1977 Order
I was asked some questions by a devotee recently – the exchange will be of interest to others:
Q.    ((Does it mean that as long as one is kanistha adhikari or less, there is no real pressing need to take diksa since it is only a formality?))
Press Interview, October 16, 1976, Chandigarh
Interviewer: What is the procedure of the movement? Do you initiate yourself all the disciples or do your other disciples also do that?
Srila Prabhupada: Well, initiation or no initiation, first thing is knowledge. (break) …knowledge. Initiation is formality. Just like you go to a school for knowledge, and admission is formality. That is not very important thing.

Article by: Damagosha Dasa

**newrule

Hare Krsna–

Below we have a few important things that any devotee should want to know about:

1.How to work without sinful reaction-no karma
2.Devotee is imperceptibly liberated
3.How to overcome the 4 defects-imperfect senses, illusion, mistakes and cheating
4.How to be Krsna Conscious- and then again be in maya —
5 One knows his eternal relationship with Krsna only- after liberation
6.Don’t talk of liberation until after we become transcendental to the three modes of nature
7.If we are not pleasing our spiritual master, then we are giving pain to the Lord in the heart”
8.Srila Prabhupada explains who is his disciple and who is above and who is within the modes of nature.
9. He explains how one can be a pure devotee- even as a neophyte

Chronology of the six goswamis

Compiled by Yasoda nandana dasa

**newrule

Sri Chaitanya spent the first 24 years of his life in Navadvipa, West Bengal. Most of Chaitanya’s followers knew him since his early years. For example Advaita (1454-1550 CE), a leading figure among the Vaishnavas of Navadvipa from before Chaitanya’s birth, and Nityananda (1473-1545 CE), a charismatic and eccentric saint, arose to key roles in creating the future of Chaitanya’s tradition. Gadadhara Pandit and Vakresvara Pandit, Chaitanya’s companions since his childhood, Narahari Cakravartin of Sri Khanda, Nityananda’s wife Jahnava, along with many others, contributed their share in initiating the tradition.

Goswami Chronology

1489 Rupa Goswami appearance

The Twelve Forests of Vraja

Submitted by Hasti Gopala dasa, compiled by Agrani Krsna dasa

The Twelve Forests of Vraja
  • By Agrani Krishna Dasa
  • on Nov 26, 2015
  • in Vraja
The Padma Purana describes twelve principal forests in Vraja situated east and west of Yamuna. On the east side are Madhuvana, Talavana, Kumudavana, Kamyavana, Bahulavana, Vrindavana, and Khadiravana. On the western side are Mahavana, Bhandiravana, Lohavana, Bhadravana and Baelvana. Krishna performed various pastimes in these twelve forests.
Madhuvana
ramyam madhuvanam nama vishnu-sthanam anuttamam
yad-drshtva manujo devi sarvan kaman avapnuyat
There is a most enchanting place of Lord Vishnu called Madhuvana. By taking darshana of this holy place all one’s desires are fulfilled. (Text 347, Mathura-mahatmya)
The forest of Madhuvana is currently known as Maholi. This is the only forest where the Supreme Personality of Godhead performed His pastimes in all the four yugas. In the Satya-yuga, He killed Madhu demon. In the same yuga, He gave darshan as Lord Prshnigarbha to Dhruva Maharaja. In the Treta-yuga, Lord Shatrughna killed the demon Lavanasura, the son of demon Madhu. In the Dwapara-yuga, Krishna performed pastimes with the gopis and the cowherd boys and in the Kali-yuga Lord Chaitanya took a sacred bath in the Krishna-kunda situated here. This forest is called Madhuvana after the Supreme Lord Madhusudana. The word ‘madhu’ also means nectar. Krishna performed nectarean pastimes with gopis here. It is also said that profound amount of honey (madhu) was available in this forest. Krishna and Balarama would come here to drink this honey. And hence this is another reason why this forest is called as Madhuvana. Places of darshana include Dhruva tila, the cave of Madhu demon, Krishna-kunda and temple of Shatrughna.

Srila Prabhupada THE ONLY CURRENT ETERNAL DIKSA GURU for ISKCON for AS LONG AS ISKCON EXISTS – NO COMPROMISE!

Article by: Mahesh Raja

Srila Prabhupada THE ONLY CURRENT ETERNAL DIKSA GURU for ISKCON for AS LONG AS ISKCON  EXISTS – NO COMPROMISE!
Does Srila Prabhupada WANT TO REMAIN as SOLE Diksa guru in ISKCON with the Ritvik Representatives conducting FORMALITY initiation 1st and 2nd ON HIS BEHALF – Disciples so Initiated are Srila Prabhupada’s AS LONG AS ISKCON EXISTS?
Answer: YES
Note: here Srila Prabhupada is VERY CLEAR of his INTENTIONS for the FUTURE in his WILL:
1)    Srila Prabhupada’s  Will :
Declaration of Will, 1977
– “The system of management WILL CONTINUE AS IT IS NOW AND THERE IS NO NEED OF ANY CHANGE.”
– “In the event of death or failure to act for any reason of any of the said directors, a successor director or directors may be appointed by the remaining directors, PROVIDED THE NEW DIRECTOR IS MY INITIATED DISCIPLE …”
2)    Srila Prabhupada the INITIATOR Guru
75-08-04. Letter: Madhudvisa:
The GBC should all be the instructor gurus. I AM IN THE INITIATOR GURU, and you should be the instructor guru by teaching what I am teaching and doing what I am doing. This is not a title, but you must actually come to this platform. This I want.
680312iv.sf Conversations
Prabhupada: Yes, I AM the spiritual master of this institution, and ALL the members of the society, they’re supposed to be MY disciples. They follow the rules and regulations which I ask them to follow, and they are initiated by me spiritually. So therefore the spiritual master is called guru. That is Sanskrit language.

Srila Gaura Kishora dasa tirobhava tithi (disappearance day)

Article by: Yasoda nandana Dasa

**newrule

Saturday, November 21, 2015 [Los Angeles, CA  time]

Srila Prabhupada praise His Guru Maharaja, the exalted Srila Gaura Kishora dasa babaji

Indian: Because if we go wholeheartedly to God without proper understanding, there is also a flaw.

Srila Prabhupāda: No. There is no question of understanding. Suppose this process… Just like Kṛṣṇa says, bahūnāṁ janmanām ante jñānavān māṁ prapadyate: [Bg. 7.19] “After many, many births of culture of knowledge, the person who has come to the highest point of knowledge, he surrenders unto Me.” So similarly, if any person without any knowledge, if he surrenders only to Kṛṣṇa, he acquires all the knowledge. He has surpassed all stages. He has surpassed all stages. And that is also confirmed. If you say, “How he has gone, surpassed all stage?” That answer in Bhagavad-gītā you find,
