A Brief Expose of the Rubber-stamped Spiritual Master by Citraketu dasa
Sounds like he is promoting the Gaudiya Matha gurus, whom we need to make sure we are not offending. At the same time he forgets, its the Gaudiya Matha folks that have promoted immature gurus. ys pd

If devotees were mature enough to understand guru tattva, there would not be such “my guru”/”your guru” consciousness, ISKCON-wise or not.
Because certain devotees haven’t been mature enough to understand, there are the guru CULT clubs, the multiple cults within the ISKCON society based on this OFF consciousness.

Hare Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I read the article by Chitraketu which has a lot of valid points. However, the one statement below makes me somewhat alarmed. It almost sounds like he is saying there are some personalities present who can function as spiritual masters in ISKCON. Then there will be some people who will present some individual as a guru , another group someone else, and before you know it you’ve got the same mess again.
YS,
Rama Raghava Dasa
Sincerely,
Rakesh

A Brief Expose of the Rubber-stamped Spiritual Master

First, however, one must check to make fully sure that there aren’t senior devotees who are actually qualified to be spiritual masters.

Book Changes even with 1948 Srila Prabhupada’s translations
Revisions – A Very Serious Situation
BY: PALAKA DAS (ACBSP)
Dec 20, 2010 — USA (SUN) — As I read “Interpretations of Bhagavad-gita”, recently published by Sun Staff, I noticed that the English translations of the Sanskrit Gita verses quoted by Srila Prabhupada just did not seem to fit, especially for a paper that was written by him all the way back in 1948. The style and arrangement of words appeared to have been taken from a much later date than the way I felt Srila Prabhupada would have written in India in the 1940’s. It dawned on me, perhaps these English translations were not the original English translations after all. Could it be they may have been changed or edited and not actually from the 1948 versions used in the original paper as presented by Srila Prabhupada?
So I took it upon myself to compare all the verses in this article with an original 1972 Gita along with the revised 1983 Gita. Not surprisingly, the result was this: each and every verse quoted from this 1948 paper came from the 1983 revised and enlarged edition of Bhagavad-gita. How can that be, since in 1948, this revised and enlarged version of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita never even existed in the first place?

But we are so rascal that we do not take advice of Kṛṣṇa, we manufacture our own ways, the suffering goes on.Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti. This is māyā.He’s thinking that he’ll make his own plan and be happy. That will never be possible. The only plan you have to accept—what is that? Sarva–dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇam[Bg. 18.66]. That is the only plan. You have to get yourself relieved from all other engagements. Simply engage yourself…Not immediately. First of all, you must ready: “Kṛṣṇa, from this day, I am now ready. Whatever You’ll say, I’ll do.” That’s… Immediately you become liberated. Liberated. How liberated? Continue reading
this is a great story of a confrontation with Gaura Govinda Swami about ritvik-he admits defeat
or Maya comes into iskcon (or our own lives) and contaminates the devotees with deception.
Long story short-Gaura Govinda swami (GGS) was a GBC supporter, and told the “story” that Prabhupada personally whispered in his ear that he should be acarya and later GGS was reported to have said, or at least his disciples were saying that he had a letter (which was always kept secret and nobody ever saw it) from Prabhupada saying that he GGS was to become acarya of iskcon. So the below story takes place in one temple where GGS in front of a whole crowd of devotees when asked if there was an order to be guru–he replied over and over again with head held down–“NO ORDER”… NO ORDER….. NO ORDER…
A week later he wad dead.

Bhima das’ reply.dasjagannivasa dasI don’t keep up with facebook, and this Madhavananda has certainly never tried to contact me personally. It’s not like I have to answer him anything. I’m the one who has put up the Reward offer of $108,000 to anyone who can show proof that Srila Prabhupada appointed him as guru. That was what ticked Gour Govinda’s followers off. And to date they haven’t collected the money.I don’t know if Madhavananda is the person I’m thinking of – maybe it’s another. But Madhavananda’s version of what happened is somewhat different from what I recall. It has been many years since, but I do remember clearly that meeting with Gour Govinda Swami.
